Hah. McDonalds had this problem with their first dollar menu which offered 4 nuggets for $1. But on the regular menu they were like 6 for $2.39. Needless to say they caught the mistake after a few months. Dang. I was luvin my 25 cent nuggets.
This is a marketing gimmick, taking advantage of the fact that most people think that if you buy more you pay less. The effect is that the company is fooling you into paying more per wing.
I agree with Firsty; it’s just not noticeable to someone with suck math. Fast food places are also very savvy with their pricing, doing things like selling burgers under their production cost to lure potential drink buyers. Maybe they checked their sales database and did the math and found that the ratio of drinks to wings was higher with the 6 pc. purchases and since soda is literally like 10X the profit margin, they offer a better deal on the wings.
1 TRIP TO ALDERAAN ON THE MILLENIUM FACLON = 17000 CREDITS! 2 TRIPS TO ALDERAAN ON THE MILLENIUM FACLON = 35000 CREDITS!!!! LooL361
Actually, the 4-piece chicken nuggets for $1 deal still exists - you just don’t usually see it listed on the menu. When I eat at McDs (which is less and less thankfully), I order two 4-piece nuggets and pay $2. Definitely a better deal than their 6-piece ripoff.
“We can pay you two thousand now plus fifteen when we get to Alderaan.”
It is aimed at poor people with families, their biggest demographic. If you have 4 mouths to feed and can barely afford the gas it took to get to KFC then the 20 for $10.99 looks better then the 24 (twenty-four) you would have to buy in groups of 6, for a total cost of $11.96. You get 4 less wings but you are still able to feed all your children and have one dollar left for gas.
IF he could afford the 24 it would leave 4 extra, saving him even more money on tomorrows food budget, or driving him further next month. As long as the food didn’t go to waste (not saved, or not eaten).
So what’s so special about this? Stupid people will always be f**ked over. Don’t be stupid, educate yourself.
I work in fast food and these sort of things come up all the time.
It’s quite funny when customers who’ve figured out our big bad secrets confront us.
As if we price this crap.
When people realize that they are more than just grease for the machine of capitalism, this may end. In the meantime, Americans are fat, stupid and lazy, and dont want to change. Kudos to those who can recognise that, and may they exploit it for as long as possible. VIVA LA REVOLUCION!
Lool361, please stop shitting up every blog ever with retarded Star Wars commentary.
the prices are in mexican pesos…….
Oh, Christ; another Che Guevara disciple. Compare the living standards in capitalist countries to your beloved socialist countries. Socialists typically live like pigs, waiting for the government to tell them what they are allowed to have, or do, or think. Except for the ones running the show, that is; THEY tend to live pretty good. Your “revolucion” is for idiots…
The more expensive wings taste better
This is actually illegal. You are not allowed to sell the same product for different amounts, with a different unit price, unless the price goes down with bulk. A major pet food supplier was recently sued for selling guinea pig food at a higher price than degu food after it was found they were exactly the same item.
maybe it has to do with packaging, the more wings you have the larger and more expensive container would be
That would be ridiculous, the containers the food comes in is probably the cheapest thing, I doubt it has much to do with the pricing.
This is not just a fast food issue. A couple of weeks ago at the local Big Y (a grocery chain) They had Pot Pies (Marie Calendar{sp?}) One cost $2.50. The Super Saver sticker beneath proclaimed 3 for $8.00.

You guys that are ‘doing the math’ are the mother f-ers that I’m stuck behind in the drive-thru. just order your f-ing meal, pay quickly and go home and get fatter. thank you
@Jeret…
That is the exact opposite of what we are talking about, most things actually do go down when bought in bulk (in fact many places do this)
What we are talking about would be like one pot pie costing $2.50 and 3 costing $10
In other words it would make more fiscal sense to purchase three seperate items than purchasing them together
Sorry, meant @Ted not Jeret
Haven’t any of you figured out that this is the end product of the NEA dumbing down the electorate? Do you not think that corporations will take advantage of that fact? Also, how in the world could half of America support a socialist for president?
Yes, the NEA’s plan has worked well!(And for you don’t know - it is the National Education Association)
Methinks ELT has never been to a socialist country. Hell, I lived in China for a month and a half and even in that situation I’d give the people way more credit than he does. Just because people in more socialist countries don’t live in McMansions and drive H2s doesn’t mean they’re unhappy slobs eeking out a state-controlled nightmare of a life.
KLR - its not illegal. Companies are allowed to charge whatever the heck they want.
Same goes for when gas stations charge less for cash paying customers as opposed to credit paying customers. Same thing with “ladies night” at bars, and senior pricing at stores. Technically it is discriminating, but there is nothing that can be done for now.
Bulk is not always better- I find it ALL the time at places like Walmart (where something will be 1.50 for 8 (like snack bars) but the “mega pack” with 16 is 3.22 or something like that).
Oh well- they are just banking on the fact that most people suck at math.
Thankfully for me- I’m not really one of them.
Mike Said- You guys that are ‘doing the math’ are the mother f-ers that I’m stuck behind in the drive-thru. just order your f-ing meal, pay quickly and go home and get fatter. thank you
Suck my dicks mike, like all four of them at the same time
Why the fuck do you want to eat chicken lips, bladders, intestines and genitals anyway? About the only thing they don’t have in them is the fucking meat!
Mexican pesos? hahahaha….you obviously don’t know the value of a mexican peso. I hate nuggets/wings or whatever was in the ad, but if i could get a bucket-full for $10.99 pesos, i’d buy it just to get some cheap eats or give to my friends. $10 pesos is less than $1 USD. $10 pesos will get you 1 canned beer or two canned cokes and that’s about it.
Before you post, look it up.

BESIDES……….the ad is in english. simple as that.
@Harry Barracuda - Chickens don’t have lips you fool.
This is just a part of the global conspiracy. Do you know what the queers are doing to the soil?
the deal is for KFC
Ted says one cost 2.50(pot pie) and sign below says 3 for 8.00 and someone else says thats not what we’re talking about.
like it is if you can buy one for 2.50 and 3 for 10.00
that proves you can’t do the math….(both are examples of the same thing, both charge more for the pot pies in multiples of three that singly, just the amounts are different. Gen a life
the larger meals come with sides. don’t they? duh
A Mexican wrote: “$10 pesos is less than $1 USD. $10 pesos will get you 1 canned beer or two canned cokes and that’s about it.”
What does “ten dollars pesos” mean? Or “one dollar US dollars”?
ORLY? kthx.
I see this at WalMart all the time as well. Corporate trickery ftl
Well i dont know about you but when im really high i dont care the price i just want shitloads of food so……. Holy crap a giraffe.
Kelly, you are so wrong. I don’t know about the main issue, but the charging less for cash thing is actually illegal, just rarely prosecuted for. It’s because it’s all legal tender, and the credit card companies are providing them a service. If you are going to use an example, at least know your example is right.
@Tomas: Why the fuck would this broke-ass family that can barely afford to buy gas go to KFC? Yeah, I know that they do, but if they are so retarded that they pay fast food prices when they can get the same food for half the price at a grocery store, then fuck ‘em.
@Jack Vermicelli: You dolt! “The symbol used for the peso is “$”, basically the same as for the US dollar since the dollar derived its logo from the Spanish-Mexican currency.” - Wikipedia
@Shane: I’m with you… meals come with biscuits and sides, etc. So why would you expect to pay less?!?!
@Tanner:
Wow you suck at math…. 3 * $2.50 = $7.50
In other words, the Super “Saver” was $0.50 more expensive
Who cares? You actually eat that crap??
I always recognize this type of thing.
Just another reason to stay in school until you learn enough math to figure these things out.
1L Bottle of Coke $0.99 (2 bottles = $1.98)
2L Bottle of Coke $1.99
LOL
Put your hands in the air! this is a holdup!
I think we’re just missing the point of the “deal.” You’re not supposed to save money by buying in bulk. You’re actually just paying for the convenience of having x amount of wings in one easy to reach location. Sure, you could buy a bunch of individual orders in separate boxes, but who wants to cart all that around? It’s actually genius–KFC has really flipped the marketing script, so to speak.
people should just be smart and make their own friend chicken its just so much cheaper
Haha, you dumbshits are all wrong… ya see that’s not even chicken you’re eating! That’s right, it’s rat; Kentucky-fried-mutha-f#*$ing-RAT!!! Which invalidates everyone’s main assumption that it is chicken and hence null and voids every last one of you pathetic fools puny arguments…. Hahah, the colonel wins again…..
But really, that’s f’ed up that they charge more per unit when buying larger quantity. Cell phone providers decrease the cost per minute of higher included rate plans, i.e. the 450 plan is $0.08/min and the 4000 plan is $0.03. This is usually how it works….
Oh, and the people who act like this isn’t important are the ones who end up scraping by in their twilight years living off a depleted social security system because they aren’t smart enough to not get taken advantage of….. f’ing chumpps!!!!!
I luv you f***ckning guys.
I love it when comment boards get flooded with relevant posts on these random issues.
